Jeg var inde på den finske kennelklubs hjemmeside, der fandt jeg denne race, men da det står på finsk kan jeg ikke finde noget forståeligt om racen, umiddelbart tænker jeg ikke den er endelig godkendt da den ikke har et FCI nr på racestandarden, men forstår jo
ikke rigtig hvad der står, udover at jeg tænker den er fra kroatien.

Purpose of use
Medimurjenkoira, or medi, is a small, short-haired, well-balanced, rectangular-shaped, short-limbed dog. It has been grown for over 100 years in the Medimurje region and other parts of northwestern Croatia. The breed has traditionally been bred in the countryside, where it is used as a warning yard guard on farms and as an exterminator of harmful rodents. It specializes in catching rats and other small rodents and has been man's best friend here for years. Because of these characteristics, not only the millers of the Myr and Drava rivers, but also current cattle breeders wanted to breed the breed. Due to its size and character, the breed is also well suited to urban environments.
In Finland, the medi is mainly a companion and hobby dog. Meds can compete in agility, toko and rally toko. In addition, the smell types (nose work, blood trail) suit the breed well. As a working dog breed, it appreciates all kinds of activities and tinkering. In the breed's country of origin, Croatia, the breed's main use is still as a small rodent catcher.
Character and behavior
The basic characteristics of the breed: appearance, likeability, liveliness and cheerfulness, make the med very suitable for the urban environment as well. Medis are friendly towards all family members, especially children, while towards strangers, a Medi may show a certain caution and suspicion at first, which usually does not develop into aggression. Medi is very loyal and very attached to his owner.
Medi will not chase other domestic animals if the dog has been taught to do so since puppyhood. The medi can go after the game. Dogs are tenacious by nature, especially when catching rodents. Meds are very obedient and eager to learn, so they are well suited for work and sports activities.
As a watchdog, medi is good. When guarding its territory, the medi is incorruptible and loud. Characteristically for a rodent hunter, the medi likes to dig holes. Medi's basic nature is reasonably tough, but the director is humble towards people. Medi needs consistent home education and lots of things to do. Due to the strong desire for activity, the medi is more comfortable with a dog friend.

The most common things about health
The breed has only been in Finland for a short time, so there are few comprehensive research results available. In the light of current information, nothing serious has occurred. General health examinations are not carried out in the breed's country of origin.
Fur care
The coat is rough, thick, hard and straight, neither woolly nor thin. The fur is dirt repellent. The hair on the head, ears and limbs is shorter. The base wool is soft and woolly. The fur on the neck and below the tail is slightly longer and denser. The length of the hair is 3-5 cm. Brushing is enough for treatment. Wash if necessary.
What kind of person is the breed suitable for?
The breed is suitable for all active people who want to exercise a lot with their dog. The breed is very energetic and athletic, and requires both physical and mental activity. It is difficult to tire a Med just by walking on a leash and therefore the breed is unsuitable as a sofa dog. Medi is social and needs company. It is therefore not only suitable for garden conditions.
